Growing Up Is Hard To Do

October 29, 2015 Wendy Wong

It was when I became a parent that I did most of my growing up.   Ironic, since I always assumed that I had to finish growing up in order to qualify to be a parent.  Nature did not wire us that way.  If it did, very few people would be having kids.  Who really is “ready” to be a parent when it happens?

We learn together along the way, and we figure it out.  Even against all odds – the many demands on our time, sometimes two careers, sometimes the need for more sleep, sometimes just to get a decent meal on the table.  We find within ourselves the confidence and faith that we can figure it out.

If we doubt for a second that we chose the wrong partner, we have already given up on figuring it out together.  Embrace the partner you have.  Show gratitude for this love story, which started it all.   Commit to growing up together.
